Insight gives perspective. Perspective ignites change.

Discover Marriage & Family Therapy

What makes Marriage and Family Therapy unique? Unlike other forms of therapy, such as psychology, which looks into a person’s past, Marriage and Family Therapy offers a solution-driven approach that starts with the premise that we are not our problems. Problems that permeate our individual experiences are byproducts of the ecosystem built by the relationships in our lives.

Throughout our time in therapy, individuals can uncover insights by identifying unwanted behavioral patterns and aim to dismantle them, understand them, and with that insight, come to an actionable plan on how to change them.  Marriage and Family Therapy takes a holistic approach to mental health, targeting the overall, long-term well-being of individuals and their families. Brevity is also a big part of MFT. The idea is to work together to help you achieve the changes in your life for which you strive, and that once those goals are achieved, you can find closure, not only with that chapter of your life but also in our time together.

Similar to other behavioral sciences, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy requires all MFT practitioners to complete a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, completing a total of 500 therapy hour prior to obtaining a master’s degree, completing an additional 1,500 therapy hours in no less than 2 years and no more than 5 years after graduating and passing a board licensure exam to become a fully licensed therapist.

I became a client of Marriage and Family Therapy before becoming a practitioner and that’s what made me a true believer in the field. After having tried therapy with psychologists, psychiatrists, and a life coach, my experience with MFT helped me find solutions in a more practical, tangible and expedited way.

My practice focuses on pattern analysis and attaining clarity from insight. Unlike other practices, I work with my clients to decode the source and patterns that are creating the situations that bring them to me. I believe that when people understand the source of a situation, it helps them notice it if it arises in the future and thus, be prepared to better deal with the situation. Learn more about the practical details of Elsa’s practice and what sets her apart.
